AdventHealth's Southwest Region expands leadership to meet increased demands, growth and investment plans for region

Over the last four years, AdventHealth has spent significant time focused on advancing its Vision 2030 strategies while cultivating a legacy of whole-person care, driving core operating performance, accelerating growth and enhancing the brand’s influence regionally and at a national scale.

“As we set our eyes on the future development plans for the Multi-State Division, we recognize the Southwest Region will need to play a significant role in the expansion of our national footprint,” said David Banks, Group CEO for AdventHealth’s Multi-State and Primary Health divisions. “Our presence in a fast-growing state like Texas has allowed us to broaden our impact and bring faith-based care to more communities.”

With this growth in mind, the following leadership changes allow AdventHealth to solidify its presence in the region.

Trevor Wright has been named president/CEO of the Southwest Region.

Currently, Wright serves as CEO for Loma Linda University Health Hospitals, a faith-based, nonprofit health system located in Loma Linda, California. In this role, Wright oversees the strategic development of an integrated academic health system with $2.5 billion in net revenue, six hospital campuses and more than 14,000 employees. Prior to this role, Wright served as chief operating officer, playing a key role in the system’s recent transformations. He also served as senior vice president and administrator of Loma Linda University Medical Center and held previous health care administrative positions at Providence Health & Services and AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

Wright will assume leadership on October 1 and will report to Andrew Jahn, president/CEO for AdventHealth’s Multi-State Division.

“Trevor is a forward-thinking leader with a bias for challenging the status quo while casting a strategic vision that helps advance growth, drive results and deepen mission integration,” said Jahn. “His ability to build relationships and be an advocate about the things that matter will serve him well as we seek to make our promise of wholeness felt more deeply across the communities in the Southwest Region.”

Wright received his master’s degree in health administration from the University of Southern California and his bachelor’s from Southwestern Adventist University. He is an active member and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the governing board of the Hospital Association of Southern California.

Penny Johnson will serve in a dedicated role as president/CEO of Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South, reporting to Trevor Wright.

AdventHealth and Texas Health Resources have committed to the next series of capital investments at Texas Health Huguley and Johnson’s renewed focus will be instrumental in driving the strategic, operational and quality performance of one of AdventHealth’s major assets.

Since 2020, Johnson has served in a dual role as both the president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Southwest Region and Texas Health Huguley. During that time, the Southwest Region has grown to include an additional facility, Texas Health Hospital Mansfield, and the five-story critical care tower that opened this year at Texas Health Huguley, both in partnership with Texas Health Resources. This is in addition to the region’s partnership with Baylor Scott & White.

“Penny is an incredibly dynamic and passionate leader who has consistently embodied our values, been a relentless champion of our brand and dedicated guardian of our mission. We are grateful for her leadership and know she will continue to lead with a heart of service dedicated to the communities in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth market,” Banks said.
