Candy Hill, LPN, has been named AdventHealth Redmond’s latest DAISY Award recipient. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the extraordinary tasks nurses perform every day.
Hill, an inpatient rehab licensed practical nurse (LPN) at AdventHealth Redmond, was nominated by two of her patients. Here is an excerpt from one of the patients:
“Candy is one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered in my 66 years on earth. I was here in Rehab, five hours away from home, and she has become a close friend. During my time in Rehab, it was my 20th wedding anniversary. On that day I was talking with Candy and told her that my husband has passed away 19 months ago and of course – I cried. Candy hugged me and listened to me. She listened to my stories of our wedding day and what my husband meant to me. After she left, I took a nap. When I woke up – there sat a sweet stuffed bear with a big balloon that said, “BIG HUG.” Then I cried even more – but these were happy tears for God putting an angel in my life, someone who didn’t know me but cared about me - 325 miles from home.”
