ORANGE CITY, Fla., March 23, 2016 More than 450 community members came to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial on March 3 for a special meet and greet with the hospital's new president and CEO Rob Deininger.
As a new member of the community, it was important to me to host this event and have the opportunity to meet our neighbors and patients, Deininger said. At Florida Hospital, we want to be more than just a healthcare provider, but also be a true partner and be actively involved in the communities we serve.
Earlier that morning, Deininger met several elected officials at a breakfast including Orange City Mayor Tom Laputka, DeBary Vice Mayor Lita Handy-Peters and Councilmember Mike Brady. He also met with Deltona Councilmembers Heidi Herzberg, Nancy Schleicher, Diane Smith and Chris Nabicht. Orange City Councilmembers Michael Wright, Bill Crippen, Tom Abraham, Ron Saylor also joined the event. Community leaders including Jane Shang, Deltona City Manager, Dale Arrington Orange City Manager, Barry Cotton, Aide for Congressman Mica, Naomi Dantonio, Aide for Congressman DeSantis, Hilda Quintero from Representative Santiagos office also attended the breakfast.
Deininger met Deltona Mayor John Masiarczyk and DeBary Mayor Clint Johnson at the afternoon community open house.
It was great to meet Rob in person and experience his excitement in coming to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, as well as his enthusiasm in continuing to be a community partner while bringing the hospital to another level, said Heidi Herzberg, City of Deltona commissioner.
In January, Deininger was appointed to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial as CEO, replacing Ed Noseworthy who became CEO of Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Deininger has served at Florida Hospital since 2008 in various roles, including vice president for research operations, administrative director of the Translational Research Institute and system project manager. He most recently served as vice president of operations for Florida Hospital Orlando. In this role, he provided executive oversight for the daily operations at the 1,200-bed hospital.
Prior to joining Florida Hospital, Deininger spent 13 years as a commercial airline pilot at various airlines including United Airlines Express, Mesa Air Group, and Frontier Airlines. During his career, he logged more than 8,000 hours of flight time, mentored new-hire pilots and trained flight crews in communication, conflict resolution techniques and standardization processes.
Deininger earned a Bachelor of Technology and Master of Business Administration from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich., and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He is an active member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the American Society for Quality and the Society of Research Administrators.
I enjoyed this event and personally sharing with Rob our past experiences in the airline industry, said Helder Carvalho, Deltona resident and local business owner. Rob was a pilot and I was in ramp service for 26 years, servicing the airplanes on the ground and handling cargo-baggage-mail. It revived old memories!
