Jessica Brazier, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for AdventHealth, has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as being among health system DEI leaders who are working in myriad ways to “uplift diverse populations and enhance health equity at their organizations and within their communities.”
About its 2023 list of hospital and health system Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officers to Know, Becker’s noted, “DEI leaders are directing efforts to create inclusive health care environments where everyone feels welcomed, valued and safe.”
Brazier has more than 15 years of experience in strategic planning, training and program implementation. Since assuming the role of chief DEI officer in December 2020, Brazier has worked closely with leaders across the health system to create a meaningful, motivational and sustainable approach to diversity and inclusion that inspires team members. Those efforts have included everything from helping in the rollout of Facility DEI Councils across AdventHealth to the recent debut of MindSnack, bite-size educational offerings that are designed to present topics – such as health equity – in a memorable way.
Brazier has been instrumental in driving DEI goals that are achieved through a variety of channels, including internal and executive leadership programs; executive succession planning; recruitment strategies targeting talent from international, historically Black and Hispanic-serving institutions; and community and military veteran workforce development partnerships.
Says Brazier’s leader, AdventHealth Chief People Officer Olesea Azevedo, “While Jessica has a big vision to strengthen our representation, equity and sense of belonging, she is also one of the most approachable and authentic people I know, ensuring that each person she interacts with feels seen and heard.”
