(Dade City, Florida, April 30, 2019) AdventHealth Dade City has partnered with Advanced ICU Care®, the nation’s largest independent provider of advanced critical care telemedicine programs. Advanced ICU Care® works with a patient’s doctor to deliver monitoring by highly trained intensivist physicians and critical care specialists 24 hours a day, seven day a week. This service is now available in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“The Advanced ICU Care® team of intensivists work remotely around-the-clock complementing the care provided by the AdventHealth Dade City physicians,” said Gwen Alonso, RN, BSN, Chief Nursing Officer at AdventHealth Dade City. “Patients in our ICUs are typically facing life-threating medical conditions. This program continuously monitors real-time patient vital signs, medications, labs and clinical status to provide an extra layer of care that enhances patient safety.”
Advanced ICU Care® has its own intensivists who are physicians specifically trained and credentialed to treat the critically ill. The Advanced ICU Care® team operates from another location with continuous access to current patient data. Patients will continue to be cared for by their bedside physician at the hospital who works in collaboration with Advanced ICU Care® intensivists and critical care nurses. Should a situation arise that requires immediate medical attention, an electronic alert notifies the Advanced ICU Care® team who works with the hospital nursing staff to provide immediate medical care. Two-way video has been installed by every ICU bedside to enable face-to-face consultations with intensivists and AdventHealth Dade City’s critical care team members.
“Advanced ICU Care® does not replace the care that one’s physician or our ICU staff provide,” Alonso said. “Rather, it offers peace of mind for the patient and family, knowing that their care is monitored by an intensivist physician every second of the day at no additional cost to the patient.”
